I remember them as mesmers, but some bosses are elementalists but it's rare to come across them.

tho the main difference is that i don't use Flare anymore. as soon as i stopped using that skill i have enough energy. but with that skill i did run out of energy all the time.

Are you sure you don't have a BiP with you?
If you have a BiP with you, you're an idiot for bringing Prodigy anyways.
But Prodigy is a superb Energy management skill. Heal Party/Blinding Flash spam ftw!
Also, I've heard double Attunes being more effective than Prodigy; but that is not exactly confirmed.
(I'm VERY surprised you never run out with Energy with a Fire Attunement, while you do all the time with Prodigy.)
(AND WHY THE HELL ARE YOU USING FLARE?)

Depends on what one spams during the Attunements.
5 energy, 1 casting time: 3 energy rebated every 1.75 seconds spamming it : 5 pips of energy regeneration equivalent
Right there, it can already approach Ether Prodigy in effectiveness. Toss in some 10 energy, 1 cast, which don't lose the half energies due to trunctuation, and a 25 energy, 3 cast spell once and a while, and you're running hyper-efficiently. (25 en, 3 cast, .75 aftercast, 3.75 seconds of time to execute it total, 15.2 pips of Energy if you had enough of such spells to spam them endlessly)
The real question is whether Elementalists even have anything worth right out spamming that is purely Elementalist in nature.
Ether Prodigy, on the other hand, has the added effectiveness of being applicable to all energy-based spells and skills, and only taking one skill slot away.
As a note for future reference, my previous post in this topic dates back before the 'amendment' to Ether Prodigy, aka, buff (since 'nerfs' don't exist, ala Gaile chat, I'm assuming buffs don't either <_<), where Ether Prodigy was shortened in duration, but enhanced in effectiveness, to its current state.

Firstly flare is a good spell for finishing things...while I would always take immolate over flare (it takes 2 flares to do as much damage as 1 immolate for the most part, and immolate is effective agaisnt enemies strong to fire which is a double bonus)
Secondly and more to the point -- Ether Prodigy, removes all enchantments...BUT does it prevent you from re-enchanting yourself when you use it? IE I cast ether prodgiy gain some mana and while its still regening I cast healing breeze....will that or reversal of fortune work while EP is active?

errrr, wanding will pretty much get you the same result, and doesn't cost any nrg :P
you can enchant yourself while under the effect of EP, but when you recast it, you'll lose all your enchants (if you recast EP wile EP is still active, the recast will end EP, and then reapply it, so you will take damage)

I used to use Ether Prodigy a lot when I took Heal Party in PvE. Now I've switched to Glyph of Energy which suits my current builds better. Though I prefer EP over Elemental Attunement, especially in areas where enchantment removals are prevalent.

Does Protective Spirit protect against the damage Prodigy does when it ends?
